When Dynasplint Regional Sales Manager Louis Jones gathered his Sales Consultants for a team meeting, they arrived with a little extra luggage. After taking care of business first, they then reached out into the community. Oven a dozen warm coats had been gathered and were being donated to Matt’s House. This is an emergency shelter for women and children who have no other place to go. For over 300 guests a year, Matt’s House offers a safe, nurturing environment while staff assists residents in finding housing, employment, or transportation back to their families. The residents receive an evening meal and a light breakfast in addition to a safe place to sleep for the night.
Matt’s House is a part of Stewpot Community Services. In 1981, representatives from seven churches in Jackson, Mississippi came together across denominational lines, to discuss a problem they all had in common – meeting the consistent requests for food and assistance from downtown Jackson’s poor and homeless.
Team Jones is part of Dynasplint Systems’ 30th anniversary, “30 Great Years, 30 Great Deeds.” The company of 720+ colleagues is divided up into 30 teams, and each is charged with a deed to celebrate this milestone. Many of the deeds are covered in this blog under the 30 Great Years banner.
